HCL 2: Again... Why? was the second mixed martial arts event held by the Human Cockfighting League. The event took place on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from the Tupelo Events Center & Honey Warehouse in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Event
This event featured six sanctioned mixed martial arts bouts, all of which consisted of three five-minute rounds.
The first fight of the night pitted heavyweights Jorgi Magumbo and Xavier Zima in a clash of styles. Zima, the wrestler, tried early on to keep the fight on the ground, but Magumbo's striking game and reach proved too much for Zima. The next fight featured a vicious slug-fest between Francois Gorgonzola and Jackson Outcast, with both fighters taking a lot of punishment, before Outcast was caught with the two straight punches to start the third round, giving Gorgonzola the knockout win. Not to be outdone, Rodolfo "Bad News" Cruz dominated his heavyweight fight with Delmar Perkins, after withstanding an early assault from Perkins. The one-punch knockout from Cruz earned the Knockout of the Night bonus.
An international battle between England's Derby Mutton and France's JC Hunite was quick, but exciting. Both men stayed in the middle of the octagon-like structure trading strikes, before Mutton was downed by a wild left hook and finished with punches on the ground.
The co-main event saw the impressive debut of Wes Blackwell, whose powerful uppercuts and solid chin were too much for Miguel Dominguez, scoring a late first round TKO victory, stopped by Teddy Neverland. This dominating display earned Fight of the Night honors. The main event showed an even battle between Ralph Marshall and Christian Sundance, with Marshall squeaking out a narrow victory.
Production
From a production standpoint, this was the first pre-produced HCL event, with live commentary from Leighton Cockburn and Randy Rosenlodge. The first event was too involved to produce live, and negatively affected the production and stream quality. This method allowed for more production, including graphics, music and voiceovers. HCL events going forward would all be pre-produced, but aired for the first time on the channel with live commentary of the action.
